When The Parsinen Law Firm sent out its little black book last holiday season it didn’t have an entry for Barnes & Thornburg, the approximately 500-attorney Indiana law firm with offices also in Atlanta, Georgia, Chicago, Washington D.C. and now, Minneapolis. On July 1, Parsinen will become the Minneapolis office of Barnes & Thornburg , adding its 22 attorneys and support staff to the roster. The move will allow Parsinen’s attorneys an opportunity to provide more client service that it has up until now had to refer out, said managing partner Howard Rubin. He also said that the Minneapolis office will now have the resources to expand its intellectual property practice.
The move of course comes at a time where contraction in law firms is more typical. Both law firms are committed to reasonable rates and have remained profitable during the economic downturn, Rubin said. Barnes & Thornburg has not engaged in any attorney or staff reductions or delayed the start dates for any of its new attorneys, the firm said in a news release.
Rubin will become the managing partner of Barnes’ Minneapolis office and will have a seat on the management committee, he said.
